Qubie ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Qubie platform, a cross-company community marketplace exclusively for verified corporate employees. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Work email address, name, city, area, bio, and profile photo.
- Personal Email: Optional personal email address for account recovery purposes only. This is never shared publicly.
- Password: Securely hashed and stored. We never store or have access to your plain-text password.
- Posts & Listings: Content you create including titles, descriptions, images, pricing, and location details.
- Messages: Private messages exchanged with other users through our in-app messaging system.
- Comments: Public comments you post on Ask Community discussions.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, post view counts, and interaction patterns.
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device type for optimizing the mobile-first experience.
- IP Address: Used for rate limiting and abuse prevention only.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Corporate Domain Verification: We verify your work email domain against our whitelist of approved corporate domains. We do not access your employer's systems or data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your corporate identity and maintain platform trust.
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To display your posts, comments, and profile to other verified users.
- To facilitate in-app messaging between users.
- To send notifications about messages, comments, and post activity.
- To send transactional emails (password changes, account deletion confirmations, new messages).
- To enforce our Terms of Use and prevent abuse via moderation tools.
- To improve and optimize the platform experience.
4. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Users: Your name, company badge, city, area, bio, and profile photo are visible to other verified users. Your email addresses are never shown publicly.
- Anonymous Posts: If you post anonymously, only "Anonymous User" or "Verified Corporate Employee" is shown. Your identity is hidden from other users, including in chat.
- Admin Access: Platform administrators can view user profiles, posts, conversations, and comments for moderation purposes.
- Service Providers: We use Supabase (database & authentication), Resend (transactional emails), and Microsoft Azure (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
5. Data Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt via Supabase Auth).
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies are enforced at the database level to prevent unauthorized data access.
- Authentication uses JWT tokens with secure session management.
- Rate limiting protects against brute-force and abuse attempts.

6. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, your profile is soft-deleted immediately. Your posts are anonymized and deactivated. All personal data is permanently purged within 30 days.
- Posts & Messages: Deleted posts are soft-deleted (hidden but retained for audit). Messages in conversations are preserved for the other participant even after account deletion.
- Data Export: You can export all your data (profile, posts, messages, ratings) at any time from the Profile page.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View and export all your personal data.
- Correction: Update your profile information at any time via the Edit Profile page.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated personal data.
- Anonymity: Post content anonymously with control over whether company information is shown.
- Communication Preferences: Block users and control who can message you.
8. Cookies & Local Storage
We use essential cookies and browser local storage for authentication session management. We also store a randomly generated, per-browser installation ID in local storage when you enable push notifications, so we can target push notifications to your specific browser. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics trackers.
8a. Browser Push Notifications
If you grant notification permission, your browser generates a Web Push subscription containing a unique endpoint URL and encryption keys (p256dh and auth). This subscription is shared with our notification provider, Azure Notification Hubs (Microsoft), so we can deliver push notifications about new messages, comments, and account events even when the app is not open. We do not send the contents of your messages to Microsoft beyond the title and short preview shown in the notification itself. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your browser settings; doing so removes the subscription from Azure Notification Hubs.
9. Children's Privacy
Qubie is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Qubie after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
